Goodwood: A First-Class Few Days of Cars, Racing and Hospitality

Karon and I were invited down to Goodwood for what turned into a very enjoyable few days.

Our visit began with a tour around the factory, which I would thoroughly recommend if you ever get the opportunity to arrange one. It is always fascinating to see the work, detail and craftsmanship that goes into producing the cars, and being able to look behind the scenes gives you a very different appreciation of the marque.

We were driven around in a new Rolls-Royce Ghost, which was certainly not a bad way to travel. We were collected from our hotel and taken across to the Goodwood estate for the opening of an art exhibition curated by the Duke.

The exhibition made for a very pleasant start to the visit and, as you would expect at Goodwood, everything was beautifully presented.

Afterwards we were taken back to the hotel to change before heading out again for dinner at Goodwood House.

Dinner at the House is always a special occasion. The setting is difficult to beat and the food was, as ever, excellent. It was a great evening with wonderful hospitality before we were driven back to the hotel at the end of the night.

The following morning we were invited back to the factory, this time for some photographs outside the front entrance. It was a nice way to round off the visit and another opportunity to spend a little more time at a place that is always worth seeing.

As ever, Goodwood looked after us extremely well from start to finish.

And the trip was not quite over.

We then stayed on for racing at Glorious Goodwood with some friends. A few days of cars, good food, racing and excellent company is difficult to improve upon.

Goodwood has always managed to combine cars, motorsport, history and hospitality in a way that feels very natural, and this visit was no exception.

A first-class few days, as always.
